MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM
Barker realises the educational value of the arts - in particular music. All students in the Junior School learn an instrument which they play in classroom and school ensembles. Beginning in Year 3 Music is an exciting subject, and a popular elective option in Years 9 to 12, where a large number of musicians enjoy developing their musical skills to an advanced level.

ENSEMBLES – A CHANCE TO BE INVOLVED!
Barker ensembles cater for musicians of all ages and abilities, and provide a great opportunity to meet other students. The Music Centre is a very friendly place and students have a strong sense of identity and belonging through shared ownership of the co-curricular ensembles. Every year these groups enjoy numerous performances and considerable success in competitions!

MUSIC LESSONS
Barker offers lessons by some of Sydney’s best instrumental and vocal teachers, and each of them recognise their students’ individual needs and aspirations.

From the youngest musician starting on his journey of self discovery to the virtuoso flair of a senior student, Music at Barker is a constant source of pleasure and pride to us all!!
