FacilitiesThe Junior School enjoys first class facilities that support our learning programmes. Throughout the week all students use these facilities in academic programmes, specialist programmes and co-curricular programmes. The facilities include:
The Junior School is part of the whole Barker College campus, an area of some 18 hectares. The immediate areas surrounding the Junior School are made up of vast playing fields where our students play and exercise, both organised team sports as well as free playtime throughout each school day. Many tennis courts lie directly adjacent to the Junior School and are available for our students each day, along with extensive basketball court facilities.
All our Junior School students have access to facilities enjoyed by all the students who belong to the Barker College family. In 1987 the McCaskill Music Centre was opened, and then further renovated and extended in 2003. Here our Junior School students enjoy first class music facilities, both for tuition and performance.
In 1994 The Barker Foundation Aquatics Centre was completed, where each of our students enjoy indoor swimming facilities. This facility is used in timetabled PDHPE times, for training squads in swimming teams, and for intensive swimming programmes held throughout each academic year.
All of our students enjoy large and airy classrooms with access to excellent ICT facilities, both within each classroom and in the Junior School Computer Laboratory. The War Memorial Chapel is central to our Junior School, and plays an important part in our student’s working week.
