Applications for 2009 Scholarships are now open. Please go to the Scholarship information page for further details.
Applicants for scholarships will participate in the Barker College testing programme.
Academic performance will be judged using previous school reports and on the basis of the applicant’s performance in the Barker Scholarship Examination which is to be held at Barker College in early March each year.
The purpose of the scholarship testing process is to identify students of outstanding academic potential. Students undertake four tests as part of this process.
- An aptitude test which is predominantly verbal and numeric in nature
- A reading comprehension task which focuses on inference, analysis and reading.
- A mathematics task which assesses reasoning and analytical skills
- A writing/essay task assessing student’s facility with written language.
The school uses the test information and a variety of other criteria in its decisions regarding the awarding of scholarships. Individual scholarship results are NOT available to parents.
Music auditions are to be held separately after the academic examinations. Students applying for a Music Scholarship are required to attend the Scholarship examination.
Barker offers Academic Scholarships for Year 7 & 10; Music Scholarships for Year 7 & 10; Boarding Scholarships for Year 10 only. Further information will be available December 2007.
