Design & TechnologyThe Design and Technology Department is committed to providing students with opportunities to engage in innovative practical design activities utilising both traditional and industry standard technologies. We encourage students to be aware of the nature of design and the impact that designers can have upon the world in which they live.
Design & Technology and Industrial Technology students at Barker are offered a wide range of media with specialist teachers in furniture making, general woodwork and metalwork, textiles fashion, digital media, graphic design, 3D animation, architecture, film and video, CAD/CAM, industrial design, jewellery, rocketry and CO2 F1 cars.
We engage students in design projects that are relevant and interesting through links with professional designers and the use of Hi-Tech equipment such as our 3D Rapid Prototyping printer, Laser cutter, CNC router and Textiles Sublimation printer.
Excursions, visiting designers, workshops and after-school activities are an integral part of the Design and Technology and Industrial Technology courses.
