Welcome to The Barker Cricket Club
The Barker Cricket Club helps to foster, develop and improve the game of Cricket at Barker by providing support in developing the cricket skills of all players and coaches. The Club encourages pupils, parents and families to provide positive support for cricket at Barker.
Each season the Club undertakes fund-raising activities to support the engagement of high profile, specialist coaches to increase the skills and confidence of our cricketers. The Club purchases additional equipment as required and provides financial assistance for cricket tours to Canberra, Brisbane and overseas, for example the recent Barker development tour to South Africa in January 2009.
Through generous donations from the Barker cricket community, our Club provides funding for a Cricket Fellowship to Brighton College, UK, each year, which is highly sought after by Year 12 cricketers seeking a unique ‘gap’ year. The Barker 1st XI Captain from 2006-07, Hamish Angus, was our fourth fellowship winner in 2008. Andrew Crosland was selected as our 2009 Fellowship winner and arrived at Brighton College in January this year, maintaining a great tradition for Barker.
