Building a place to grow
My vision for Barker has always been of a School which is genuinely a place to grow – which caters to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social and personal needs of its students.
No building project undertaken by the School Council in the past ten years demonstrates its commitment to catering to all of these needs in quite the same way that the proposed Kurrajong Building does.
In an innovative, highly integrated design, the new building brings together:
- A dedicated Christian Fellowship Centre adjoining the Chapel to support the nurturing and encouragement of the Christian life of Barker’s young people;
- Exemplary modern, appropriate, purpose-built facilities which offer opportunities for best practice teaching and learning experiences in English in all its many and varied dimensions;
- Appropriately designed spaces for student-centred programmes in learning support; and
- Professional theatre-standard teaching and rehearsal studios, with adjoining performance spaces, for Drama, both within the curriculum and as a co-curricular activity.
This new building will enable Barker to provide richer and more fulfilling learning experiences for its young people so that their futures will be more secure as they move into the world, confident that their schooling has provided them with relevant skills and relevant experience to seek their own answers, to develop their own understandings - in short, to take their place and offer their contribution, making a difference in the quality of life for their fellow men and women.
Your contribution to the Kurrajong Building Capital Appeal will enable you to share in this process with us. Please help us to continue to make Barker a great place to grow!
