Co-education at Barker
The Senior School is co-educational and collegiate, providing a transition between school and university in an atmosphere appropriate to the personal and social developmental needs of older adolescents.
All classes, with the exception of PDHPE, are mixed and class sizes are kept small, allowing teachers to really get to know you and assess your strengths and abilities.
Fostering a positive adult relationship between staff and students in a framework of rational order and the encouragement of respect for others, the Senior School emphasises self-development, self-motivation and self discipline.

Girls normally enter Barker’s Senior School in Year 10, however in specific and individual circumstances, entry to Year 11 can be considered.
Girls come to Barker to experience a learning environment which offers them choice:
- choice of subjects
- choice of co-curricular programs
- choice in who they want to be
In 2009, almost 4,000 girls have come and gone, each making her individual contribution to the School, and leaving well-prepared to take her place in the world!
