Barker boasts a high level of staff involvement with boarding students.Carter House was constructed in 1920 and was described as being 'unsurpassed in Australia' when it was built. It has been progressively upgraded. Plume House was built in 1929 and was originally named Junior House. It was renamed in 1931 after the death of the school's founder, the Reverend Henry Plume.The houses have their own common room area for indoor activity, TV and video use.
