You are here:HomeFacilitiesJunior School Facilities Facilities The Junior School redevelopment project has transformed the Junior School into a truly 21st century learning environment. The new Enrichment Centre provides dynamic classrooms, generous open areas and interactive flexible learning spaces for boys to work in small or large groups. The many facilities available in the Junior School engage boys in academic, specialist and co-curricular programs: Enrichment Centre Multi Purpose Hall ICT Resources Barker Foundation Aquatics Centre McCaskill Music Centre Extensive and Easily Accessible Playing Fields Tennis and Basketball Courts War Memorial Chapel After School Care The Junior School is part of the whole Barker College campus, an area of some 18 hectares. The immediate areas surrounding the Junior School are made up of vast playing fields where our students play and exercise, both organised team sports as well as free playtime throughout each school day. Many tennis courts lie directly adjacent to the Junior School and are available for our students each day, along with extensive basketball court facilities. Specialist learning spaces will see busy hands engrossed in art, science experiments, design, technology and writing. Walls will be moveable and spaces flexible so that boys of like mind can excel by working together. All our Junior School students have access to facilities enjoyed by all the students who belong to the Barker College family. In 1987 the McCaskill Music Centre was opened, and then further renovated and extended in 2003. Here our Junior School students enjoy first class music facilities, both for tuition and performance. The Barker Foundation Aquatics Centre is used in timetabled PDHPE times, for training squads in swimming teams, and for intensive swimming programmes held throughout each academic year. All of our students enjoy large and airy classrooms with access to excellent ICT facilities within each classroom. The War Memorial Chapel is central to our Junior School, and plays an important part in our student’s working week. Upon request, After School Care is available for each of our students.
