Preparing Student For the Future

Students in PDHPE 7-12 experience a broad range of relevant syllabus based topics. Our staff challenge the boundaries of contemporary teaching practices to provide inspirational lessons…….. all which provide information and skills relevant to today’s students, helping them manage their life each day at school and prepare them for their futures beyond Barker.

Students are encouraged to be active participants in their learning enabling them to become empowered to join staff on a journey of the syllabus with no limit to creativity and originality of thought.

Staff also impart a unique pastoral sensitivity providing students and parents with a balanced and caring approach to life while involved in the PDHPE program.

Pass - Electives - Passion For the Future!

In Years 9 to 12 students have the opportunity to experience a range of elective subjects from the Year 9 and 10 Physical Activity and Sports Studies course through to the Year 11 Preliminary and Year 12 HSC courses. Staff are passionate about teaching these courses and provide students with excursions and experiences in class to truly “bring the syllabus to life”. Excursions include visits to;

• Westmead Childrens Hospital to volunteer for the day;
• Sydney University (fitness testing, indoor rock climbing);
• Manly Sea Eagles (training session).

Students are inspired through these electives to pursue a variety of PDHPE related careers in the future such as: Health Sciences (physio, nursing, sports medicine) Sports administration and management, sports coaching.
