Building on our Heritage
The School has commenced construction on new seating on the north-east corner of the Main Oval. The purpose of this seating is to provide comfort and shade for the Senior School students who gather in that part of the School for their recess and lunch times. For larger “home days” in winter sport, the additional seating will be very welcome. Work began on this new seating in Term 4 2016. We expect that the project will be completed in time for the new winter season in 2017.
Designs for the new, permanent Preparatory School (Pre K to Year 2) are nearly complete after a lengthy process of consultation and review. We hope to lodge these plans with the Shire Council in the final quarter of 2016 and commence the tendering and building process as soon as possible after the approvals.
It is anticipated that the construction will commence in the middle of 2017.
Sports Hall and Centenary Design Centre Extension
An architectural firm has been appointed to design the new Sports Hall and Centenary Design Centre Extension, which will be located on The Avenue. This very large project will take several months to design and there will be opportunities for interested members of the community to view the proposals and offer feedback before we lodge the Development Applications. Although there’s nothing to show for it so far, an enormous amount of work has been invested in this early stage.
The Design Centre also needs to be extended. There are three demountable buildings on the Unwin Road frontage and they must be replaced by a permanent structure. It is a good opportunity to update some aspects of the building and to add much-needed Exhibition Space and perhaps a Food Technology facility. The same architect has been commissioned to design this new space.
